I have read several Sitepoint books. Like most of us, the book reviews is part of my decision in purchase. After my last purchase, i think I learn my lesson not to trust reviews of sitepoint books….I was told that sitepoint authors help each other out by giving each other high reviews. This explains a lot of why such a poorly informative book like this one would have high reviews. It is not worth the time. The read is mundane (not at all inspiring) and the info provided is far from informative. If you need a read to tell you to do PR’s, blogs, SEO basics, etc, than this is the book for you.

Brandon Eley and Shayne Tilley cover a lot of ground, giving a great overview of online PR, e-mail marketing, SEO, copywriting, link building, etc.
While this isn’t an exhaustive tome, it’s worth every penny (actually, quite a bit more). Although I’ve used some of the tactics they discuss before, they taught me things I didn’t know and reminded me of things I should be doing to maximize my marketing efforts.
Great book! Highly recommended!

Eley covers practically all the bases in this easy-to-read, concise, informative book. The chapters stand alone really well, so whether you’re a one-man band or prefer to have different members of your team study the sections that apply to them most directly, this book is well worth it.
He is covering so many topics with so many moving parts that each segment is a bit higher level than the “Dummies” books, but if you know enough about the internet (and marketing) not to need a lot of hand-holding, but are wanting to know “best practices” and where the resources are, you’ll find this an enjoyable and informative read. The focus is truly on what works and will produce practical results for your organization, which makes sense because Eley is both an experienced entrepreneur AND a web expert.

Specially good for those of us with an offline marketing background, because it reteaches you marketing from a new angle. You don’t have to be a marketer to understand this book. It’s meant for everyone getting started in web marketing. I just wanted to point out that for some of us, and for our better understanding, many of the examples they use in the book are great analogies from the offline world, and we appreciate that!
It is definitely a must have for everyone who runs a business and wants to advertise online. Why? Because internet has changed and now the dynamics of the game are different than what they were in 2000? 2005?
The authors have done a wonderful job explaining everything very thoroughly and yet in very short precise chunks, so that readers can digest things more easily and smoothly. No jargon whatsoever. From beginning to end they put things in perspective in very simple words.
