I recently reviewed V14 of the Wiley CPA software for all four parts. The review wasn’t very good. This book is much better than the software.
I am planning to take AUD in a few weeks and BEC a few weeks after that. I completed a review of BEC using a Lambers book and their software and felt pretty good after finishing them. Normally I like to use multiple resources, so I picked up an older version of the Wiley BEC review. The nice thing about BEC is that most of the concepts don’t change. I purchased a 2006 copy of this book. Except for some Sub S rules, it is just fine.
While the Wiley software has issues, I also used a Wiley GAAS guide. I read it cover to cover and highly recommend it for CPA review. Therefore, trying a Wiley BEC book seemed like a good idea. Especially an old, inexpensive used one since it was a secondary resource.
I’m still reading it, but this book is definitely more challenging than the Lambers book. There is a lot of overlap but the IT section is somewhat more modern and concepts like the Balanced Scorecard are covered.
Given the price of Wiley compared to the major CPA review courses, I would definitely look here if you can review on your own successfully. Gleim is OK too.

The BEC part of the exam is perhaps the most difficult. Wiley does a great job in helping you better understand the material.

This is the third Wiley CPA exam review book I’ve used. Like the others, this one is laid out nicely and has lots of review questions. The text can get a little dull. I’ve seen the Becker review books from a friend and those look a little easier to read, but these offer ten times as many questions to review, which is how I studied for the exam. I’ve only gotten results back from FAR so far, but I passed using the Wiley books in conjunction with the Wiley review questions on CD.

Thorough and fairly detailed, this prep book contains all the info you need to ace the exam. It’s low-graphic but low-cost. I would recommend using with the Wiley CPA prep software for extra practice questions. For the price, you just can’t beat it (even if you have to occasionally ignore a spelling or grammatical error).
